During the last few years, there has been a considerable increase in demand for lift chairs.
Lift chairs are in fact, similar to other recliner chairs... the difference being that they are fitted with a motor (or motors) to power the chair to"lift", helping you to get up from a sitting position.
In fact, lift chairs are ideal for anyone experiencing difficulty in "getting around"...anywhere from a sitting position to go to the bathroom, fix meals or any other number of reasons.
It is important to determine the right kind of lift chair. The right kind of lift chair means the kind of chair that works best for you, gives you the most comfort and mobility.
Do you want to recline in infinite positions? ...or would 2 or 3 positions be enough? Would you like to have the vibrating option feature added? Are you tall in height, short? etc, etc.
Browsing through all the various options available can be really confusing and can make selection difficult. However consulting with one of our specialists can target what you need so you get the maximum mobility and comfort possible...at reasonable prices.
Here are some common factors to to consider before purchasing your lift chair:
- Color and type of fabric
- Design (2, 3 or infinite positions)
- Dimensions, wall hugger?
- Weight capacity
- Shorter in height than average...or taller than average?
Typically, a good lift chair is one that is able to withstand the weight and height of the user without causing discomfort. So, you should select a lift chair based on your height and weight. Color of the chair, of course is based on personal preference. Upholstery and the fabric on the lift chair should be selected in such a way that it does not cause any allergic reaction and has stain resistance and durability.
A particularly important factor to consider is the reclining capability of the chair. Lift chairs are usually available with different reclining options such as 2, 3 or infinite.
There are certain subtle differences between these levels of reclining. While a 2-position chair will allow reclining to 45 degree angle, a 3-position chair allows a complete flat position. Both these chairs are operated by a single motor and have the ability to lift you from a sitting to a standing position.
In case of an infinite reclining model, there are two motors. While one motor allows the lowering of the back, the other motor allows the adjustment of the foot rest. Infinite models are useful for arthritis patients or others who experience extreme pain in their legs... or anyone who's looking for maximum comfort.
